TEHRAN, Oct. 07 (MNA) – President Rouhani of Iran left Vietnamese capital city of Hanoi early on Friday and arrived in Kuala Lumpur as the second stop of his SE Asia tour where he was accorded a formal red carpet welcome.
“The Post-JCPOA era yields a good ambience for developing relations with this important Islamic country [Malaysia],” said President Hassan Rouhani of the Islamic Republic of Iran upon landing at the Bunga Raya Complex of Kuala Lumpur International Airport, early on Friday.
After a one day visit to Vietnamese capital city of Hanoi where the Iranian delegation inked several agreements and contracts with their Vietnamese counterparts on Thursday, President Rouhani and the big delegation accompanying him left Hanoi to Kuala Lumpur at the formal invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. This is the first formal visit of Iranian president in the last three years that he has been running the presidential office.
“In the first leg of our Southeast Asia tour we had good and constructive talks with Vietnamese officials and the ways to broaden and cement cultural, economic, and political ties were discussed,” maintained the Iranian President, “Malaysia is an important Islamic country and we are following the objective to strengthen ties with people and government of this country.”
After being welcomed by the Malaysian Natural Resources and Environment Minister, Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, at the airport, President Rouhani and his accompanying delegation were officially welcomed at the Perdana Putra, the office complex of the Prime Minister of Malaysia located in Putrajaya, the Federal Territory of Putrajaya, a planned city and the federal administrative centre of Malaysia.
