Islamabad—The ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran Mehdi Honardoost on Thursday paid tribute to the veteran professor of Persian language department of National University of Modern Languages (NUML) Dr. Mahr Noor Muhammad Khan.
Addressing a ceremony organized by the Iran embassy at NUML the ambassador termed that Dr. Mahr Noor is an asset for both the countries and people of Pakistan and Iran must learn from his experiences, a news release on Thursday said.
He said Persian is the second largest spoken language of the Muslim world after Arabic and remained the state language of sub-continent for centuries.
He said national poet of Pakistan Allam Iqbal wrote his most of the Kalaam in Persian language which shows the importance of this language. The ambassador said Iran would never forget the services of Mahr Noor Khan for the Persian language and literature.
Director General NUML Brig Riaz Ahmed Gondal, in closing remarks said that it is matter of great pleasure and respect for NUML that a person like Dr. Mahr Noor Khan served here and today his services is being acknowledged by the Iranian embassy for the promotion of Persian language.
