For Sunday’s casual-dining review, Bryan Fitzgerald visited Persian Bite, a winning restaurant that serves little more than grilled kebabs and sides. Short version:
The menu lists exactly 19 items. It’s introductory Persian cuisine crafted by deft native hands, heavy on kebab and saffron and light on the wallet. …
Soaked in a peppery marinade, long, thin slices of (chicken) breast meat are slathered in a sauce not unlike Middle Eastern masala, creamy with notes of heat that are far from searing, alongside hints of tomato and coriander. Being so delicious, I’d hate to break the dish down into these terms, but will do so in the hopes of getting the less-adventuresome through the door: If you like buffalo chicken wraps — isn’t that our national food at this point? — you’ll love the chicken tikka wraps here.
If you’re not in the mood for hot, go for a kebab. Forearm-long skewers full of either lamb, chicken, beef or a beef/lamb mix won’t run you more than $10.99. This includes a pillowy pile of basmati rice (enough for two) or fresh bread and a roasted tomato.
