ran owns the largest fuel transportation network in the Middle East, an official from the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) says.

In a Monday interview, Abbas Filsaraei, an NIOPDC deputy director, said the average age of Iran’s fuel tanker fleet almost equals that of the European countries.

The official noted that fuel is transported in Iran by tanker trucks, tank wagons, tanker ships as well as through pipelines.

Nearly 10,000 tankers from 400 private sector companies transport fuel by road, Filsaraei said.

During the last Persian calendar year (ended March 20, 2014), nearly 87 billion liters of fuel was transported by the Iranian tankers, showing a three-percent year-on-year growth, the official added.

He went on to say that in the last Iranian year Iran’s tank wagons and ships transported three billion liters and eight billion liters of fuel, respectively.
